UPCOMING LFA SUMMER MUSIC SERIES DATES (6-8 p.m.):
SATURDAY, AUGUST 17 – Vocalist/musicians Bill Blau and Nancy Rocamora – otherwise known as Blumora - performed with the Chapel Hill/Durham band Elderberry Jam since 2013. They created Blumora in 2018 as a means to achieve more artistic flexibility and greater performance opportunities. Bill (vocals, guitar, mandolin, electronic foot percussion) is a retired physician who has performed in various bands and vocal groups since high school. Nancy (vocals, guitar) is a retired tutor who began singing publicly in elementary school, received her degree in Music, and continues singing with several vocal groups. They play any genre of music that lends itself to an acoustic duo arrangement with strong melodies and harmonies, drawing material both old and new from folk, country, bluegrass, Americana and even a recent movie soundtrack! For songs that are familiar, singalongs are always welcome. Samples of their music can be found here.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 24 - The Poor Historians are a local band that performs an eclectic blend of acoustic guitar music that highlights their appreciation for folk, popular, and classic rock music from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, and today. You’ll find yourself enjoying their vocal harmonies and humming songs from their performances the rest of the week! Band members include Jon Abramowitz (vocals, guitar) and David Marks (vocals, guitar). You can view some of their previous performances here. (This concert will be part of the End of Season Social on the 24th.)
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 – The Ron Wayne Band plays the best of blues, classic rock and more. A sample of their music can be found here.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 – Dan Cobb is a guitarist who regularly integrates music into his classes at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he is a Professor of American Studies. He is especially passionate about the music of the “Long 1960s,” and counts Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Buffalo Springfield among his most important musical influences. His performances feature a blend of acoustic and electric covers of songs written by a wide range of rock, folk, and blues artists, as well as his own original work. You can hear some of his original tunes here.
Additional LFA Summer Music Series dates will be announced shortly.
We look forward to seeing you in the park and hope you enjoy the shows.
